-Details-
As someone that always had a strong admiration for France, the AL00001-B is an item that I have a particularly strong attachment to. The model is what is known as a “bicorne hat”, characterized by sharpening the brim at two points to make it look like a horn. It was famously worn by Napoleon Bonaparte. Historically, this hat was used by army and naval officers from Europe and America during the latter half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. Its use was permitted only for those with high rank and was even used as their formal wear. Due to the fact that it was used as formal wear for high-ranking military officials, only the finest hatters were permitted to craft it.The crafting process of a bicorne hat starts with the selection of the base material, the linen blade. We only use fine textured linen with good fiber and color conditions. A special sewing machine that was made over a hundred years ago for hat making, called a “blade sewing machine”, is used to shape the body. Working with this machine is technically demanding, and only craftsmen with ample skill and experience can master this machine to craft hats. We crafted this item hoping that its users can enjoy the sharp beauty of the bicorne hat, traditionally only worn as formal wear, in their daily lives. A satin ribbon is attached as an accent.
Made by hand at the Atelier HIZUME, Paris, France.
