We wanted to pursue a toque hat with the potential to carry the feeling of the quality of a timeless classic on a special night. The creation process begins by making a wooden pattern that I imagine for the perfect toque hat. We first made “chips”, which are used as a base for the wooden pattern. The wooden pattern is then molded by the world’s best wooden pattern craftsmen. Based on this wooden pattern, we finalize the shape of the hat by utilizing the traditional sparterie method, an extremely rare technique in the contemporary creation scene. The decorative fringe is also handmade one by one, using dead stock tweed, a material that is no longer available today.
